Brief Overview
Manganese Sulphate or Manganese (II) Sulphate, is a pure white to faintly pink coloured inorganic substance (sold in powder form) with the formula MnSO4(H2O). It forms many types of hydrates like monohydrates, tetrahydrates, heptahydrates etc., but the most common hydrate available is the Manganese Sulphate Monohydrate. This is a precursor to Manganese metal and other chemical compounds. It has high solubility which allows it to be used for crops in the Agriculture industry.
Manufacturing Process
Manganese (II) Sulphate is normally produced as a result of purifying Manganese ores. The aqueous solution of sulphates is combined with Sodium Carbonate, which reacts and forms Manganese Carbonate precipitate. This Manganese Carbonate is then calcined to form Manganese Oxides, which are furthermore reacted with Sulphur Dioxide to finally give Manganese Sulphate.
